Recipe: No-Bake Apple Pie Energy Bites

Pre + Post Workout Recipes, Snack and Appetizer Recipes

By: Chris Freytag, CPT

I love pie! Pretty much any kind, but apple is one of my favorites. I’ve tried other apple energy bite recipes and created this one which I think tastes just like apple pie. As long as you have a food processor this recipe is a snap!

A great nut free lunch box idea, or to pack for work for when you need a quick snack. These bites last very well for 48 hours, and they are always gone at our house after that so that’s as long as I have ever kept them.

You could always add a scoop of your favorite protein powder for added protein. Truvani Plant Based Protein works really well in this recipe. These energy bites are high in carbohydrates which give you energy.

Great snack to eat before the gym, or your workout.

Total Time: 25 minutes

Yield: 3 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup pitted dates
  • 1 cup dried apples ( I use rings) found in your bulk foods section
  • 1/2 cup oatmeal
  • 1 tbsp apple pie spice
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp flax seed
  • 1 cup water

Directions

  1. Combine all the dry ingredients in your food processor and 1/2 cup of the water then mix. Add more water until you get a soft consistency that is not runny. I used 1 full cup of water.
  2. Using a tablespoon scoop out balls and roll into a ball shape. Place onto a plate or in a container with lid.
  3. I sprinkle extra oatmeal on top of each ball because I like the added texture. Let set in refrigerator for 20 minutes and enjoy!
