Recipe: Seafood Rub

Dips + Sauces Recipes, Seafood Recipes

I love simple and easy! Fresh seafood is the best and this rub gives everything a little extra kick! I was inspired by a Whole Foods fish rub recipe and came up with this one. This healthy seafood rub is fabulous on shrimp, and salmon. I make this rub ahead of time and store it in these cute spice mason jars you can buy pretty much anywhere. Add a little label with twine and you have a really cute homemade gift!

Total Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

I mixed this up. We liked it a lot. I added 1/2 tsp lemon pepper. Didn't make too much pepper for us because we like the spice but if you dont like so much decrease the amount of pepper from the recipe. I like what the lemon adds. I coated my shrimp with the rub and then used a mixture of honey, canola oil (because I was out of olive), and some orange juice ( and a little more spice) and brushed it on one side of my shrimp and then the other side when I turned it over. You can add more honey if you like it sweet or some siracha if u want more spice. It was delicious. This will be my go-to spice for my base on my shrimp and salmon now. It hits so many of the flavors we usually use and what you probably already have in your pantry. Yum!

I love how you are adding your own twist to it and making it your own! I just may have to try the lemon pepper next time. Thanks for sharing your tips and tricks!

How about some salt-free mixes for those of us with medical issues. Mrs. Dash just doesn't have enough rubs for me.
