“I am almost 31-years-old and my struggle with obesity has been a roller coaster for as long as I can remember. I grew up in a household where food was love, and as a result, I have always turned to food when times were tough. Since the age of 17, I have been the caretaker for my parents, and when I was 19-years-old, my weight had ballooned to 275 lbs. At the age of 20, I got motivated and lost 130 lbs. I counted calories, exercised and ate healthy foods. The weight melted away, and I was finally a happy girl.
I enrolled in college full-time and majored in Community Health Education. However, with the stress of school, I didn’t focus on myself as much and the “Freshmen Fifteen” turned into the “Freshmen Thirty.” The weight that I had worked so hard at to lose was creeping back. Devastatingly, my mother passed away, and most of my weight was back by graduation. I did not feel suited to represent the health field.
Between 2007 and 2009, my right foot was partially paralyzed from a ruptured disc; I had back surgery; I got laid off from my job; and my weight was back up to its peak of 275 lbs. Scared that I would not live to see the age of 35, I decided it was time to take care of myself again.
I discovered Exercise TV a year ago and it has been such a lifesaver! I gained the motivation once again to get moving and discovered Chris Freytag’s “Walking Cardio Shape Up,” and it’s fantastic! I knew it was a keeper when every muscle in my body was feeling it the next day. I liked Chris immediately because she had a great energy that really kept me going, and she was easy to follow. I kept coming back for more with Chris along with adding other activities that I enjoyed.
I have been eating healthfully and counting calories like I did before, and I am currently down 113 lbs! I have another 17 lbs to go until I reach my goal weight. I am taking it up a notch with Chris’ 10 Pound Slimdown workouts. They are so much fun, and working muscles that I didn’t even know I had! I feel the best that I have in years, both physically and emotionally, and I am ready to get out in the health field to help inspire others like Chris has done for me. I think Chris is amazing. She is great at what she does, and she also took the time to communicate with me on her Facebook page. It’s wonderful to be able to connect with somebody who has helped me along the way, and I’m motivated even more to know that I have her in my corner! Chris has contributed significantly to my weight loss success, and for that, I will always be grateful.”
