Chris’s schedule is BUSY, but that doesn’t mean she skips breakfast. She knows how important a healthy start to the day is so she makes sure to begin her day with a big glass of lemon water and a healthy, filling breakfast. Here are three of her favorites:
Muffin in a Minute: Chris loves the fact that this muffin in ready in minutes! It’s simple and quick: perfect for her busy mornings running out the door.
Banana Berry Baked Oatmeal: Chris loves to make this on Sunday and eat it all week long for breakfast. Talk about planning ahead!
Gorgeous Green Smoothie Bowl: Another favorite of Chris’ is a good smoothie in the morning. Her gorgeous green smoothie bowl is super healthy, can be whipped together in a pinch and she loves being creative with toppings.
When it comes to lunch, Chris looks for energy-boosting, flavorful meals that pack a nutrient punch. These three lunches meet her standards.
Low-Cal Southwestern Chicken Soup: Another recipe coming out of Chris’ kitchen is this flavorful southwestern chicken soup. The soup is gluten and dairy free and makes for the perfect office lunch!
Crunchy Cashew Thai Quinoa Salad with Ginger Peanut Dressing: Chris considers this recipe a go-to when she’s feeding her family or bringing a dish to a party. The dish is healthy, PACKED with flavor and it has quinoa – a favorite ingredient of Chris’.
Lighter Cobb Salad: The combination of edamame, avocado and turkey bacon provides tons of protein and amazing taste. Depending on what Chris has on hand, she’ll swap out chicken or shrimp for turkey bacon.
After a long, action-packed day Chris loves coming home to a warm home-cooked meal. These three seem to find themselves on repeat in the Freytag household.
Layered BBQ Chicken and Sweet Potato Enchilada Casserole: Chris loves this recipe due its delightfully tangy, delicious flavor. Oh, and it’s easy to make! Her tip: remember to look for BBQ with a lot of natural ingredients and low sugar content.
Asian Chicken Kabobs: This family recipe is packed with protein and vegetables marinated in a zesty sauce that adds a delicious Asian flavor. Chris likes to save the extra marinade to use as a drizzle on a salad or sandwich later in the week.
Cashew Chicken Quinoa Bake: The combination of quinoa, chicken, cashews, red pepper and ginger makes this recipe a sure-fire favorite of Chris’. How could that combo be anything short of amazing?
For Chris, sides are the perfect avenues to add extra veggies to any meal. Even if your main dish is packing loads of nutrients and fiber, more veggies never hurt anyone!
Roasted Brussels Sprouts: This recipe came from Chris’ daughter and is one of Chris’ most beloved vegetable sides. With a little balsamic, lemon juice, and garlic, these super delicious Brussels sprouts make any dinner seem fancy.
Sweet Potato Fries with Adobe Sauce: Guilt free and tasty, baked sweet potato fries find their way onto Chris’ plate frequently. And when sweet potatoes help protect our eyes, heart and other organs, Chris tries makes these whenever she can.
Cauliflower Cilantro Rice: Chris calls this dish her “ultimate staple food.” Cilantro is one of Chris’ favorite herbs and she loves how the cauliflower mimics the look and feel of rice but is way lower in carbs and calories!
It’s no secret that Chris loves dessert. But Chris’ standards are high for dessert. If she’s going to indulge, it’s got to be delicious and healthier than the typical sweet treat packing loads of sugar. Oh and if it’s got pumpkin or apples in it, she’s almost guaranteed to like it.
Pumpkin Pie Mousse: Pumpkin is a favorite flavor for Chris. And this pumpkin pie mousse is the perfect not-too-sweet dessert for fall.
Apple Crisp: Fun tidbit about Chris: growing up, she used to always ask for an apple crisp instead of a regular birthday cake. Ever since she was a little girl, apple crisp has been a favorite dessert.
Cheesecake Squares: This lightened up cheesecake is low calorie and a great way to satisfy your cheesecake craving. Chris like to garnish with tons of fresh strawberries!
Chris can’t go a day without snacking. And because of this, she knows her snacks need to be healthy. She typically goes for a simple apple with peanut butter or yogurt with toppings, but when she’s feeling a bit more adventurous these are her favorites.
Peanut Butter and Chocolate Energy Bars: Coming out of Chris’ kitchen, she loves this recipe for a healthy snack at the office or post-workout. The oats, peanut butter and seeds make for a pilling and nutritious bar.
Pumpkin Pie Protein Balls: Protein is big for Chris when looking for a snack and these pumpkin pie protein balls have 7g per 2 balls. Plus, it tastes just like pumpkin pie filling!
Guacamole: Chris loves her recipe for homemade guacamole instead of high fat dips and chips when entertaining. Her preferred dippers? Carrots and red peppers.

When it comes to drinks, Chris rarely goes a day without her kombucha. However, when she wants to change things up, these are her best-loved thirst-quenchers:
Healthy Pumpkin Spice Latte: The typical pumpkin spice latte packs major calories and fat, but Chris didn’t want to give up one of her favorite flavors so quickly. Thus, she created a version of her own: delicious and way better for you!
Fruit Infused Water: Chris loves to flavor her water with all sorts of fruit and herb combinations. The options are endless and she often finds she drinks way more during the day when she has yummy infusers!
Sassy Skinny Margarita: Chris and her husband came up with this recipe as an alternative to the high-calorie ones you’ll often find at Mexican restaurants. The Freytag version has only six simple ingredients and is a snap to make.
