Recipe: Lighter BLT Dip

recipe: Dips and Sauces

This lighter BLT dip is the most decadent dip of all time but only clocks in at 134 calories per serving. Pretty awesome, right? The texture is rich and creamy while the combination of the smokey bacon flavor with fresh tomato is dynamite. I am not a huge fan of bacon, so I made this recipe with turkey bacon instead and paired with baked pita chips. Serve at your summer BBQ and your guests won’t even notice it’s a “healthy” recipe because they’ll be too busy scrapping the bottom of the bowl for more!

Ingredients

  • 12 slices center cut bacon (or turkey bacon if you prefer)
  • 2 (8 ounces) blocks of 1/3 less fat cream cheese
  • 2/3 cup fat free sour cream
  • 4 ounces 50% reduced fat sharp cheddar cheese, shredded (about 1 cup) – I used Cabot
  • 5 ounces (1 1/4 cups) shredded 2% Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup diced, seeded tomatoes (I used grape tomatoes)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded iceberg lettuce
