What Does Lavender Taste Like?

Lavender has a refreshing, slightly sweet taste that goes very well with honey. Many people think lavender tastes like lemon, though that’s not quite the case. Lavender has a very subtle taste and isn’t at all overpowering like some other spices can be–it balances well with many different foods such as honey or bread.

Lavender is also used in cooking because it adds an earthy and floral flavor to dishes without being too strong.

Lavender Benefits

An iced lavender latte has a surprising amount of health benefits.

This iced lavender latte recipe is made with all-natural ingredients that are good for everything from boosting your immune system to improving sleep, and it has the added benefit of being vegan-friendly and gluten-free as well!

The health benefits of lavender also include calming and relaxing effects.

Lavender can lower your stress levels because it’s been shown to balance blood pressure, improve heart function, decrease anxiety, alleviate depression symptoms and even enhance a person’s moods.

Of course, caffeine can counteract some of those effects so be careful not to overdo it on your lavender latte intake!

  • 2 tablespoons raw honey
  • 2 teaspoons dried culinary lavender
  • 4-8 shots espresso*

Instructions

  • Soak raw almonds in filtered water overnight, just enough so that all of the almonds are covered. Store on the counter or in the fridge overnight.
  • The next day, place water-rich almonds and 4 cups of filtered water in a high-speed blender.
  • Add 2 teaspoons dried culinary lavender and 2 tablespoons raw honey to the blender.
  • Blend ingredients on high for 1-2 minutes.
  • Strain lavender honey flavored almond milk from pulp, using a nut milk bag or layered cheesecloth.
  • Add 4-8 shots of espresso to the strained almond milk, depending on how many shots you prefer in a latte.*
  • Pour over four glasses with ice.

Notes

We like the Vanilio Nespresso pods, but you can use any kind of espresso that you like. Use 8 shots for 2 shots of espresso in each glass or 4 shots for 1 shot of espresso in each glass.

  1. This recipe looks delicious! I have a friend who I think would love it for a special treat for her springtime birthday, but unfortunately she’s allergic to nuts! Are there any alternatives to almonds for this recipe that you would reccomend?
