If veggies and ranch is a go-to favorite snack, swap your regular ranch out for this 2-ingredient cottage cheese ranch dip for a high protein alternative.

Is there anything that cottage cheese can’t do? I’m not going to lie, cottage cheese wasn’t a staple in our kitchen until it started gaining popularity on tiktok and instagram. I’ve tried cottage cheese scrambled eggs, cottage cheese ice cream, and these 3 ingredient protein pancakes!

This simple 2-ingredient cottage cheese ranch dip was so simple to make and was the perfect addition to the healthy snack options we try to keep on hand.

Why make this dip instead of just using ranch dressing? We think it’s worth taking the extra step to stock your fridge with this dip since it’s higher in protein thanks to the cottage cheese and low calorie in comparison.

This high protein dip is gluten free, low carb, and is also higher in calcium than regular ranch dressing.

  • Cottage Cheese: cottage cheese is used in place of sour cream to add creaminess to this dip. Use either full-fat or low fat cottage cheese for this dip. Full-fat cottage cheese will make a thicker, creamier dip – but use the one that best aligns with your health goals. Look for a cultured cottage since these have gut-friendly probiotics added – Good Culture cottage cheese is one of the most popular cultured cottage cheese brands.
  • Ranch Seasoning Mix: use store-bought ranch salad dressing seasoning mix to add ranch flavor to this dip. Hidden Valley Ranch makes the most popular one, but there are other brands like Trader Joe’s or Simply Organic as well. You can also make your own (it’s very simple!).

If you don’t have any ranch dressing seasoning on hand, it’s really simple to make a batch of it at home with a few simple ingredients.

You’ll have extra dip seasoning leftover so you can save it in a jar for a future batch of dip, or use it on roasted veggies or to make ranch dressing.

Homemade Ranch Seasoning:

  • 1 ½ tablespoons buttermilk powder, 1 ½ teaspoons dried parsley, 1 ½ teaspoons dried chives, 1 teaspoon granulated garlic powder, 1 teaspoon dried dill, ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • If you can’t find dried chives, substitute with 1 teaspoon onion powder

Variations

I love the ranch seasoning in this whipped cottage cheese dip. However, you don’t have to make the recipe as written – you can add just about any spice or even some sauces you have in the pantry to these.

Here are a few of my favorites:

  • Spices: Curry powder, Tajin, cayenne, Za’atar, taco seasoning, smoked paprika, or chili powder
  • Sauces: BBQ sauce, Buffalo sauce, or chipotles in adobo sauce

  • Wraps or Sandwiches: the creamy texture of this ranch dip makes it a perfect option as a creamy spread instead of mayo on a wrap or sandwich.
