Ingredients for Immunity Smoothie
Use these simple and fresh ingredients packed with nutritional value to make this delicious immunity smoothie recipe. Be sure to check out the recipe card for the exact amounts of each ingredient you’ll need.
- Orange: I like throwing peeled fresh oranges into this smoothie rather than orange juice because you can include the fiber when using the whole fruit. Navel oranges are great, but mandarin oranges or clementines can be used too.
- Carrots: the vitamin A and fiber in carrots are great for supporting a strong immune system. I like to peel my carrots before blending, but you can skip that step.
- Banana: adds a little sweetness and makes for a creamier smoothie. For an extra thick and frosty smoothie, use frozen banana.
- Mango: I love the combination of mango and ginger together so I used them in this smoothie. Use frozen mango to help thicken this smoothie.
- Ginger and Turmeric: this is a power combo of superfoods that are great for supporting your immune system since they provide anti-inflammatory effects. For the best flavor, use fresh ginger root.
- Lemon: brightens up the other flavors in the smoothie.
- Greek Yogurt: did you know that a lot of your immune system is housed in your gut? Support gut health by including some probiotics in your smoothie by adding Greek yogurt.
- Milk: I use organic milk but feel free to use any milk: almond milk, soy milk, oat milk, and coconut milk also work well. If you don’t want to use milk, you can also use coconut water.
Variations
Add Greens: make this into a green smoothie that is packed with immune-supporting antioxidants, and fiber by adding in a handful of spinach or baby kale. If you want to add veggies but don’t want to change the color – try adding ½ cup of frozen cauliflower rice.
Make it Vegan: use non-dairy milk and a dairy-free yogurt.
Add Protein: make your healthy smoothie more filling by adding a scoop of your favorite protein powder – either vanilla or plain works best. If collagen is your thing, you can also add unflavored collagen to this smoothie for extra protein.
Other Add-Ins: for extra fiber and protein, add a tablespoon of chia seeds or hemp seeds to your smoothie.
