After hearing about AG1 for months, I finally decided to try it myself — and here’s how that decision turned into a three-year daily habit.

For six months my co-worker kept telling me I needed to try AG1.

I watched her shake up that bright green drink over and over again, and honestly? I wasn’t convinced. Most greens powders taste earthy and gritty, and I assumed this one would be the same.

But after hearing about AG1 from multiple health experts I trust, I finally decided to give it a try.

Now, after taking AG1 daily for more than three years, it’s become one of the easiest health habits I’ve ever maintained.

Greens powders, explained

Greens powders are supplements designed to help fill nutritional gaps by combining vitamins, minerals, probiotics, and plant nutrients into a single drink.

How I found AG1

I kept seeing AG1 everywhere — on health podcasts, Instagram, and in conversations with colleagues in the fitness world. I researched the ingredients, read reviews, and after staring at the ingredient list about 20 times, I finally ordered it.

Here’s my honest experience after three years of daily use.

What You’ll Love About AG1

After using AG1 every day for over three years, these are the benefits that have stood out the most to me.

It Replaced Most of My Vitamin Pills

I’m not great at consistently taking vitamin pills. I always intend to, but it’s easy to forget.

AG1 simplified my daily supplement routine because one scoop covers a lot of the vitamins and nutrients I used to take separately.

I still take Vitamin D, Omega-3s, and collagen, but AG1 covers most of my daily vitamin needs.

It Supports Gut Health

AG1 contains prebiotics, probiotics, and digestive enzymes that support digestion and nutrient absorption.

Several friends I recommended it to noticed less bloating and improved gut health after starting it.

It Helps Maintain Energy Levels

AG1 contains several B vitamins that support energy production.

I didn’t experience a dramatic energy spike because I was already eating well and exercising regularly — but many people I know reported noticeable improvements in energy.

It’s Convenient and Easy to Stick With

One scoop in water and you’re done.

That simplicity is exactly why I’ve been able to stay consistent with it for years.

Even when traveling, the individual packets make it easy to stay on track.

My Experience Using AG1

From my first scoop to three years of daily use, here’s exactly what my experience with AG1 has been like.

Unboxing & First Impressions

My first order came with a pouch, a canister, a shaker bottle, and travel packets.

Everything felt well designed and high quality. It immediately felt like a premium product.

First Taste & Setup

I mixed one scoop with cold water in the shaker bottle.

I was expecting that grassy greens powder taste — but instead it had a mild pineapple vanilla flavor with subtle sweetness.

Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised.

AG1 Flavor Options

When I first started drinking AG1, there was only one flavor available: the Original pineapple vanilla blend. That’s the one I started with, and honestly, I still really enjoy it.

Since then, AG1 has expanded their lineup and now offers four different flavor options, which is great if you prefer a certain taste profile.

Original (Pineapple Vanilla) 🍍

This is the classic AG1 flavor. It has light tropical notes with hints of pineapple and vanilla and a mild sweetness from stevia. It’s refreshing and easy to drink first thing in the morning.

Berry 🍓

The Berry flavor has quickly become a fan favorite. It tastes like a blend of strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries and has a slightly sweeter taste than the original.

Tropical 🌴

The Tropical flavor has brighter fruit notes like papaya and passionfruit. It’s a little more vibrant and bold if you prefer stronger fruit flavors.

Citrus 🍊

The Citrus flavor has a sweet and tangy taste with hints of orange and lemon. It’s light, refreshing, and a great option if you like a more zesty flavor.

My Daily Routine

Every morning I:

  1. Add one scoop of AG1
  2. Add 8–12 ounces of cold water
  3. Add a scoop of collagen
  4. Shake and drink

AG1 recommends taking it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach for best absorption — which is exactly how I use it.

Results Over Time

After the first week, I realized how easy it was to stay consistent.

After the first few months, it simply became part of my routine.

And now after more than three years of daily use, it’s something I genuinely look forward to each morning.

Because I was already eating a healthy diet, I didn’t notice a dramatic overnight change — but I feel confident knowing I’m consistently getting a wide range of nutrients every day.

Many people I’ve introduced to AG1 reported:

  • Improved energy
  • Better digestion
  • Less bloating
  • Feeling more confident about their nutrient intake

Alternatives I Considered

Before trying AG1 I looked at several other greens powders, but AG1 consistently appeared as the most comprehensive option with strong quality standards and third-party testing.

What to Consider Before Buying AG1

Like any supplement, AG1 isn’t perfect for everyone — here are a few important things to think about before purchasing.

Cost

AG1 is definitely a premium supplement.

However, when I compared it to buying separate vitamins, probiotics, and greens powders, the price felt more reasonable.

Usage Frequency

AG1 is designed to be taken daily.

For me, the consistency of a single morning drink made it much easier to maintain than multiple pills.

Lifestyle Fit

AG1 works well if you:

  • Travel frequently
  • Want a simplified supplement routine
  • Don’t always eat enough fruits and vegetables

Safety & Limitations

If you are:

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Taking blood thinners
  • On prescription medications

You should consult your healthcare provider before starting AG1 or any supplement.

Potential Downsides

A few things to keep in mind:

  • It’s more expensive than basic multivitamins
  • The ingredient blends are proprietary, so individual amounts aren’t listed

Personally, I trust the company’s standards and scientific advisors, but transparency is something some buyers may want more of.

Final Thoughts on AG1 After 3+ Years

After taking AG1 daily for more than three years, here’s my honest final verdict.

I always say food first, supplement second.

But the reality is that most people struggle to eat enough fruits and vegetables every day.

For me, AG1 works as a nutritional insurance policy.

After taking it daily for more than three years, I can confidently say it’s one of the easiest wellness habits I’ve maintained.

Best For

  • Busy adults
  • People who struggle to take vitamins consistently
  • Anyone wanting an easy way to fill nutrient gaps

Maybe Skip If

  • You already follow a very nutrient-dense diet

AG1 FAQs

Here are answers to some of the most common questions people ask before trying AG1.

What is AG1 and what does it do?

AG1 is a daily greens powder supplement that contains vitamins, minerals, probiotics, adaptogens, and plant-based nutrients. It’s designed to help fill nutritional gaps in your diet, support digestion, boost energy, and promote overall wellness in one convenient drink.

When should you take AG1?

It’s best to take AG1 first thing in the morning on an empty stomach for best absorption. Water is easiest but if you would prefer, you can also mix with a milk, juice or blend it in a smoothie.

Is AG1 worth the money?

AG1 is a premium supplement, but many people find it worth the cost because it replaces several products like a multivitamin, probiotic, and greens powder. For me, the convenience of getting many nutrients in one daily drink has made it a worthwhile investment.

How long does it take to see results from AG1?

Some people notice improvements in digestion or energy within a few days, while others may take a few weeks to feel noticeable benefits. Results depend on your diet, lifestyle, and current nutrient intake. Many people start noticing subtle improvements within the first month.

What does AG1 taste like?

AG1 has a lightly sweet pineapple-vanilla flavor with subtle tropical notes. Unlike many greens powders, it doesn’t taste overly grassy or gritty. The drink is smooth when mixed well with cold water and shaken before drinking.

When is the best time to take AG1?

AG1 is best taken first thing in the morning on an empty stomach for optimal absorption. Most people mix one scoop with 8–12 ounces of cold water. It can also be added to smoothies or mixed with juice if you prefer.

Can AG1 replace a multivitamin?

Yes, AG1 can replace a traditional multivitamin for many people because it contains a wide range of vitamins, minerals, and plant compounds. However, some people may still choose to supplement with nutrients like Vitamin D or Omega-3s, depending on their individual needs.

Are there any side effects from AG1?

Most people tolerate AG1 well, especially when starting with the recommended serving size. Some individuals may notice mild digestive changes at first due to the probiotics and fiber. If you have medical conditions or take medications, consult your healthcare provider before starting any supplement.

Do you need to refrigerate AG1?

Yes. After opening, AG1 recommends storing the pouch in the refrigerator to help maintain the potency and freshness of the ingredients. Leaving it out briefly isn’t a problem, but refrigeration helps preserve the nutrients long term.

Who should consider taking AG1?

AG1 may be helpful for people who:
Struggle to eat enough fruits and vegetables
Want a simple daily supplement routine
Travel frequently
Prefer drinking nutrients instead of taking multiple pills

Who should not take AG1?

What is AG1’s return policy?

    1. Hi Deb – Great question! I would think yes, but I would definitely bring this up to your doctor first and have them review it for you!

    1. Hi Kathy – Great question! So I am still an Organifi lover, but I prefer their Organifi GOLD tea as my night time routine. I take the Athletic Greens (AG1) every single morning first thing on an empty stomach. I will say I do prefer the taste of the AG1 drink and it has so many more nutrients and vitamins (75+) in the AG1 drink. The Athletic Greens has replaced my morning extra vitamin/ pill routine so I am no longer taking extra pills.

I do still drink the GOLD tea at night for completely different reasons. It’s more of my night time, sleepy tea if that makes more sense. Still great nutrition in the GOLD tea but not as many vitamins and nutrients in the GOLD Tea.

  1. Nice article about Athletic Greens. please can you help me with Athletic Greens interactions with other medications. more post on it will be appreciated.

    1. Hi there – I am not a doctor and there are SOOOO many medications out there in the marketplace _ I can not tell you that. They have a full time staff that would respond to you about your meds if you ask their customer service. My husband is on several different meds and never even thought about it being a problem with superfoods and vitamins but you can never be too safe so ask your doctor or AG1 Customer Service about your particular meds.

    1. To the best of my knowledge there is no Vit K. They actually send you a VIt D + K supplement to go with the AG1 when you sign up for a subscription. My husband was on a blood thinner and had no problems. BUT – the customer service on AG1 website is stellar and they will get back to you.

    1. SO YES – I did have menopause symptoms-but I was post menopause when I started AG1. I started about 2-3 years ago on AG1 and I had already went through menopause at age 51. Post-menopause-I personally started noticing the slowing down and gut stuff. With AG1 – I have better energy and better gut health. Plus I love that I’m consistent. I am not consistent with pills and having a complete drink that I enjoy – I drink it 365 days a year. I have heard from lots of my followers that using AG1 has helped with overall night sweats and hot flashes!

    1. I use Primal Kitchen – I love everything this brand stands for (totally off subject – but I love all their food products especially their ketchup – no SUGAR and it’s al natural and yummy) BUt here is the link to the collagen. Drinking my greens as I type this- lol!! https://amzn.to/43aTTya

    1. No, AG1 does not contain collagen peptides. However, AG1 can be mixed with collagen- that is what I do every morning – I throw a scoop of collagen into my AG1 bottle and shake it up.

AG1 is a daily nutritional supplement that contains vitamins, minerals, and plant extracts. It’s designed to support a variety of health areas, including:
Mental fitness, Bones, Heart, Skin, hair, and nails, Hormones, Immune system, Energy metabolism, and Muscle recovery.

AG1 is free of artificial additives and flavoring, and it doesn’t contain added sugar. But no collagen !

    1. Yes – I do the quick shot of 2 tbps + a little water first – then I make my AG1 – drink it while making my coffee and get my breakfast – vinegar before eating to help with controlling blood sugar.

  2. I too hate taking all my morning vitamins! I’m curious which ones could I stop, and which ones would I need to continue? I currently take; Calcium, vitamin D, vitamin B complex, magnesium, omega-3, and a digestive probiotic. I have both collagen, and vitamin C, but am very hit & miss about taking them. I’m not fond of the C chews, and already stir MiraLax into my coffee so 🤷🏼‍♀️. So what can be dropped and what would I need to keep taking?

    1. well AG1 is your multi vitamin – so your B vitamin complex, vitamin C, and your probiotic. You need to take calcium, D and Omega 3 separately.
