For six months my co-worker kept telling me I would like Athletic Greens, also known as AG1.  I watched her shake it up and drink it and I looked at the ingredient list 20 times before I decided it was time for me to try it. And now a year later, I’m giving you my full Athletic Greens review.

What does Athletic Greens taste like, what are its benefits and why do I love it? Let’s dive in and I’ll give you my full review.

My Experience With Athletic Greens

While this Athletic Greens review is not sponsored, I may receive a small commission if you purchase through my link.

Everything about Athletic Greens is up my alley. I am a believer in good nutrition, probiotics, and clean products. But truth be told, I am typically not a fan of “greens drinks” because of the way they taste.

Most greens drinks taste earthy to me. I didn’t think I’d be able to choke it down.

My co-worker Sam kept telling me it tasted sweet, but from the looks of it, it was another gritty, green drink. So what made me flip the switch?

Well, frankly, I just kept hearing about it from health experts and people I respect. And holy moly, I loved it right away. I love the way it tastes and the way I feel, and after one week, I was hooked.

Now, after a full year of taking Athletic Greens every day, I can say it’s been a game-changer for me. It’s an easy habit to follow and I look forward to it every morning. The travel packets are so convenient that I never miss a day all year.

A lot of people report that they see an increase in energy after starting Athletic Greens. And while I always feel better when I know I’m feeding my body good nutrients, I was already a very healthy eater before starting AG1 and had good energy, so I did not experience a crazy burst of energy.

Since starting AG1, I have turned many people onto it as well who have reported back to me that they feel better right away, their gut feels better, and they are glad to be getting in the nutrients that they would never eat.

The Benefits of Athletic Greens

AG1 replaced my vitamin pills

I don’t like choking down vitamin pills. I’m a healthy eater but I also think it’s a good insurance policy to take a few vitamins. Realizing that one drink in the morning would replace all of those pills and powders was a quick yes for me.

I still take Vitamin D and Omega 3 which is not in Athletic Greens.

Ease Of Use

One scoop easily dissolves in water; you just shake it up and drink it down. You can mix it with juice or milk but I just use cold water. You get a shaker bottle with your first subscription order.

NSF Certified for Sport

This third-party certification ensures what is on the label is what’s in the bottle. According to Athletic Greens, “We place quality first and ensure that our ingredients are individually selected to meet top-quality sourcing standards that are third-party tested and tested for NSF Certified for Sport. The formula is then reviewed and refined regularly by our board of scientific advisors.”

What Does Athletic Greens Taste Like?

When people ask me to review Athletic Greens, most ask “what does it taste like?” AG1 tastes amazing! Seriously, it’s got a fresh pineapple taste to it. It’s readily absorbable and I love the fact I’m starting my day with nutrients and 8-10 oz. of water.

Ingredients: What’s In It?

AG1 contains 75 vitamins, minerals, whole foods, superfoods, probiotics and adaptogens in one serving. Athletic Greens is produced in New Zealand and works with vegetarian, vegan, Paleo, Keto and low carb diets.

It contains no GMO’s, herbicides, pesticides, no artificial colors, flavors, preservatives or sweeteners. Athletic Greens is nut, egg, gluten and dairy-free, and has no added sugar.

How It Works

To use AG1, mix one scoop of the Athletic Greens mixture into 8-10 ounces of water.

The company recommends taking it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach for optimal quick absorption and that is what I do.

However, many people add it to their smoothies or use it as an afternoon pick-me-up.

I personally mix it with cold water but some will use juice or milk and that works too. Once you open the pouch, the company recommends you keep it refrigerated and use it within 90 days.

The Cost

An Athletic Green review would not be complete without looking at the cost. It’s not cheap to be a regular user of this product. In fact, using my discount offer, a single subscription (one pouch monthly) is $79 for 30 servings which comes out to $2.63 + tax per day.  If you do the double subscription (two pouches monthly), it’s $149 for 60 servings, which comes out to $2.48 + tax per serving.  My husband and I both take it every morning so we do the double subscription.

I recommend that you add up how much you spend on vitamin pills and compare it to the Athletic Greens daily price. For me, it was close to a wash in cost so it made the decision easy. And of course, I have to say if you buy designer coffee drinks for $4-6 a day, perhaps you consider spending that money on something that nourishes your body instead of filling you with caffeine and sugar.

For the pouch subscription packages, which you can pause or cancel at any time, you will also receive a free shaker canister and travel packets with the first order.

Are There Side Effects?

I am not a doctor, so if you are taking prescription medication, as with any supplement, I recommend you consult with your healthcare provider before using their product.

Where Can I Buy Athletic Greens?

AG1 is not sold at retail, you need to order online. The easiest way is to purchase a monthly subscription.

Along with your AG1 pouch, you’ll get a canister, shaker bottle, five travel packets, and one year supply of Vitamin D3+K2 liquid drops when you subscribe. Plus you save $20!

And don’t be freaked out by the subscription. You can skip a shipment, move the date, change the delivery address, or cancel altogether – it’s super easy and worth it!
