Recipe: Sweet And Sassy Reduced Sugar BBQ Sauce

It can be tricky to find the right BBQ sauce. Not too spicy and not too sweet. I came up with recipe out of desperation when we ran out of BBQ sauce as I was about to serve a huge group. I created this recipe and everyone loved it, so now I don’t buy it from the store. I just whip up this easy, reduced sugar recipe. Traditional BBQ sauce has around 19 grams of sugar per serving. This homemade sweet and sassy reduced sugar recipe has only 9 grams of sugar per serving and makes an extremely tasty addition to any meal.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup organic ketchup
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon worcestershire sauce

Directions

  1. Simply mix all the ingredients together and heat in a pan until the sugar dissolves, or microwave for 1 minute.
