Our basic ground chicken meatball recipe can be used in so many different ways: perfect tossed in a red sauce over spaghetti, on game day as an appetizer, cut in half and thrown on a pizza, or just on their own as a protein source for lunch.     Ingredients in Ground Chicken Meatballs

    This healthy chicken meatball is super easy to throw together. Our basic ground chicken meatballs have just 5 ingredients, not including salt and pepper.

    Basic Ground Chicken Meatballs:

    • 1 lb. 90% lean ground chicken
    • 1/2 of a yellow onion, diced
    • 1/2 cup whole wheat breadcrumbs
    • 1 egg
    • Splash of Worcestershire sauce
    • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon pepper

    Jalapeño BBQ Cheddar Meatballs

    Start with the base of our basic ground chicken meatballs, then add:

    Start with the base of our basic ground chicken meatballs, then add:

    • 1 cup chopped spinach
    • 1/4 crumbled goat cheese
    • 1/2 medium sweet potato, mashed (about 1 cup)

    How To Make This Chicken Meatball Recipe

    To make our delicious chicken meatballs, combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl. Make sure to mix gently and only until just combined otherwise meatballs can tend to get tough.

    If you are making one of our flavor variations, add in the additional ingredients before mixing.

    Roll into evenly sized balls and bake in a preheated oven until meatballs are cooked through.

    • 1-2 jalapeños, seeded and diced (adjust according to your spice preference)
    • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
    • 1/4 cup cilantro
    • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
    • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce (added after the meatballs cook)
    • Sweet Potato, Goat Cheese and Spinach Version

    • 1 cup chopped spinach
    • 1/4 crumbled goat cheese
    • 1/2 medium sweet potato, mashed (about 1 cup)

    Directions

    1. Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. For a specific flavor version add in all those ingredients with the basic meatball recipe (unless otherwise specified).
    2. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Line a baking sheet with foil for easier cleanup.
    3. Roll into meatballs. Bake for 20-25 minutes until completely cooked through.
    4. For tha jalapeño bbq cheddar meatballs, toss in barbecue sauce after cooking.
